About me & my blog

ABOUT ME

Formerly writing under the name Shahenda the bookgeek, I started my career in August 2018 as an indie bookblogger and created SHE READS!!!. A book reviewing website with +70 blogposts with professional designs and poems for every book I read.

Next, I broadened my freelancing work to include numerous international platforms: Girlsinsights blog USA, Magnificent Magazine, Women of Egypt Magazine, Empower Magazine, and The Teen Magazine UK.

Now, aside from reading, writing and killing it at the gym, I enjoy giving tips and tricks on how to boost your writing skills and step up your game as a copywriter.

  1. Hi Shahenda,

I'd love for you to review my YA urban fantasy thriller, Magenta, soon to be traditionally published in September 2020 by Chandra Press of San Diego, California. Are you interested? This is a small press with limited resources so it would be an ARC in eBook format.
Since this book is still in the early stages, there is no cover art yet, but I will include a blurb and a small synopsis.
I would love to participate in interviews, guest posts or whatever you wish to have me do to make your life easier. After all this is all done on your time!

    Thank you!

    Synopsis
Magenta is a young adult Urban Fantasy/Thriller novel. This could be the first in a potential saga-type series, though this novel could also stand alone. The title is 'Magenta' and it is about a teen who suffers a stroke and suddenly finds herself at the centre of a power struggle between two New York 'visionary' factions. One benevolent and sympathetic to the 'neuro-synaptic typicals' (non-telepaths) and the other determined to use her newly awakened telepathic abilities to subvert the world as we know it. 'Magenta' has a great potential to not only appeal to young adults but would cross over to the adult market. It is a YA novel, approximately 82 000 words, with a slow burn romance set against an epic struggle between good and evil - and Magenta is the key.
Diversity factor*** Magenta’s parents are both moms.
This is voice-driven novel is filled with emotional dialogue and tense scenes, and is reminiscent of early Stephen King and Cassandra Clare. Magenta’s ‘unreliable’ narration, creates tension and suspense, as her visions and revelations make her question her own reality. Timely themes include overcoming obstacles and personal crisis, questioning our perception of reality, conflicts with authority, struggling with loss, forming a strong self-concept, loyalty and friendship.
